Yarn Along

Happily joining Ginny and the gang over at Small Things for this week's Yarn Along.
I'm home from my trip to England and trying to get back into the swing of things here, phew!
I'll be sharing a little about that soon.
Meanwhile.........a hat for class two to crochet! Curious time of the year for it I know, but it's the time when abilities and skills have built enough to work on such a pattern. Inspired by the hat pattern in Crochet for Children.  I made some modifications (always looking to simplify) and used chunky yarn with a size 5.5mm hook.
A wonderful pattern for beginners : )

A friend loaned me this beautiful book, a feast for the eyes indeed : )
I'm also hooking up a cover for a round cushion, to cosy up a certain caravan we're taking on the road this summer. Just when I thought my caravan days were over!

So what's in your work basket this week..?  Looking forward to checking out what you're up to out there.
Thank you for stopping by x M

  1. The hat is a good one! I'm about to start a new hat for my boy, he has been squeezing on one that is too small, and it is surely getting colder here!

  2. I love the hat! I am starting on new socks/mittens/hats for my babes now. I always seem to take a long time knitting during the summer, but I want them to be ready for when it starts to get cold again...and in Maine that always seems to be right around the corner.

  6. Your crochet is beautiful. I can see what a lovely pattern that is too. I really need to learn to crochet. There seems to be so much you can make. That cushion is simply delightful.

  7. That hat is gorgeous! It's been so long since I crocheted something. I think the knitting projects take so long I'm always anxious to start on the next one. I should try to squeeze some crocheting in sometime... xo

  9. That hat looks so cute. I made a similar one for my son last year, but I knit it. I am just dabbling in crochet right now. I think a hat may be in order.

  12. What lucky lucky students. I hope they realize how lucky they are to have a teacher who puts so much thought into their lessons. I love that you share your upcoming lesson with us as I always like to see what the children will be making. And I also love when you share a photo of their finished projects. I actually don't know any knitters where I live so I learned from books and magazines and the internet but that isn't the same as an actual person you can learn from. I am trying to pass that on to the only child I know that knits. She brings her "problems" over to get help. I love it.

Great colour choices by the way, on that hat.

    1. I really appreciate this Natalie, thank you! I love knowing there are readers who appreciate the educational part of what I'm working on and learning. And I hope that through our blogs we can encourage and inspire each other to share what we know with others.
And you're right, there nothing quite like learning person-to-person and your young friend is blessed to have that in you x

  13. Love the hat - reminds me of one my grandmother made me many moons ago - and I still have it. Ok it doesn't fit but the memories of warm ears on the walk to school and the pretty colours always bring happy thoughts of gran. Thanks for sharing.
