Yarn Along

Happily joining Ginny and the gang over at small things for this week's Yarn Along.
So, another veil of mystery lifted for me in this amazing journey of learning, knitting in the round.
I could never imagine how that worked, looked fascinating though. I get it now : ) and am growing mighty fond of stitching with four needles...loving these birch dpn's. It is slow, but the perfect small project for working on while you're out and about, or on the go.
One thing's for sure, it will not be a perfect sock but I will get such a kick out of wearing these and how could those colours not warm the heart on a grey day and we're sure to have many of those coming up.

Life's been full and hasn't left much time for reading, but Simplicity Parenting is still the book very much on my mind. The last chapter 'Filtering Out the Adult World' strikes a chord. Notions like 'you increase your chances of being heard when you talk less' are well worth turning over in the mind and already bringing a fresh conciousness to how I am around my small boy. It was Yarn Along that drew my attention to this invaluable book, so thanks girls and I look forward to browsing through more of your reading and knitting inspiration this week. x M
P.S. If you have little ones in your life, my previous post on fingerknitting might interest you.

  1. Isn't sock knitting fun? I have now become addicted. I love how easy it is to throw in my bag and I can easily pull it out and knit while waiting in line at the market. Have fun knitting.

  2. I first started knitting in the round with dpns and now with circular needles. I never thought I'd get the hang of it. Now I love it. I don't think I'll turn back to plain straight needles again. Love the colors of your socks!

  4. Don't you just love that yarn. I bet just looking at those socks is going to make you happy when they're done. I love knitting in the round, mostly because you don't have seams to sew - yay!

  6. Thanks for stopping by ladies : ) And yes Svenna, I too love the no-seaming part! Becks the yarn is Noro sock yarn, the colourway is deeper in reality...it's like gazing at a landscape ; )

  8. I've been knitting socks forever on double point needles and have drawn many curious comments from observers when I am out in public. I guess it does seem kind of puzzling initially. I think you will enjoy those socks forever!

  9. Knitting in the round is wonderful, though I usually use the magic loop instead of dpn's. I hate seaming so this is a great alternative. And socks can be a ton of fun.

  10. Those socks will be awesome, and they will definitely cheer up a grey day :)

I quite like the rhythm of knitting with DPNs, although magic loop works really well too. I also like the fact that I look super clever to people who have no idea how I'm managing all of the needles ;)

  11. Love the colorway! It will take me another year or two before I will dare to use the DPN's although my daughter can use them lol. Love the sock.
